Keeping new aquariums
Maintenance of the biological system of a new aquarium
When establishing a new aquarium, it is crucial to set up a robust biological filter that efficiently facilitates the nitrogen cycle, ensuring a safe environment for our fish. To achieve this, we introduce 8ml of Xepta Bac per 100 liters three times a week, accompanied by decomposing matter. This allows bacteria to multiply and initiate the nitrogen cycle in the aquarium. Providing a source of ammonia is essential because without it, various strains of bacteria may be removed by the skimmer or die. Therefore, ensuring a continuous supply of decomposing matter is vital for bacterial multiplication and establishment in the aquarium.
In the initial stages of aquarium setup, the biological filter is susceptible to destabilization due to the introduction of other organisms passing through the aquarium, as well as the addition of fish and invertebrates. There is no miracle product to prevent the appearance of unwanted organisms and algae during this phase. Thus, meticulous planning of the gradual introduction of live animals into the aquarium is paramount. This slow and staggered approach allows the biological filter to absorb and adapt to these changes.
Adding a diverse array of bacterial strains and regenerating the biological filter is crucial for its effective performance in facilitating the nitrogen cycle. It is important to note that using products to control pests during this phase may not eliminate the original problem. If the root cause is not addressed, the issue may reoccur. Therefore, allowing the filter to mature and taking the necessary time is essential. In this phase, routine use of NP Out is not recommended, as it accelerates bacterial metabolism significantly and may lead to nutrient shortages, hindering the proper development of the aquarium’s biological filter.
