Set WiFi connetion to the autoBalance
How to connect autoBalance to your WIFi network, step by step.
The WiFi connection process has been improved for iOS since version 1.9, and is very similar to Android, there is also a very simple alternative method via browser recommended for iOS. In order to configure the WiFi you have to connect to the autoBalance with direct connection, selecting the WiFi network “autoBalance_Acess_Point”, you can read the related article.
- Once the direct connection is made you have to select the recommended option to configure the WiFi. If you have selected the option “Keep direct connection” you will find the option to configure the WIFi in settings, or if you close the app and re-enter, it will ask it again.
- Android:
- On Android it starts searching for nearby WiFi networks. This process can sometimes take up to a minute.
- Select your WiFi network and enter the password (of you WiFi network) remeber taht is case-sensitive. On modern routers you may see two similar networks, one normal or 2.4G and another one: 5G. It is very important to select the normal or 2.4G one. Autobalance is not compatible with the 5G network.
- Go to step 4.
- iOS:
- In iOS you have to enter the name of the WIFI network and the password (of the WiFi network), without spaces and remember is case-sensitive. You must type the normal or 2.4G network (SSID), not the 5G network. Autobalance is not compatible with the 5G network. Alternatively you can choose the “browser” method.
- Go to step 4.
- Tap OK and then OK again. AutoBalance will try to connect to WiFi.
- Close the App, and reconnect the device (mobile) to your WiFi network. If you don’t do it, normally, it will do it automatically because the “autoBalance_Acess_Point” network will disappear, in any case it is better to check, just to be sure.
- Wait a few minutes and reopen the App, if it is connected to the WiFi the App will find the autoBalance and will connect to it. If it does not connect, go to the “solutions” section.
Alternative “browser” method.
- Tap the “open browser from here” button or open a browser and type in the address bar the URL: http://192.168.4.1 . Make sure that the device is connected to the WiFi network “autoBalance_Acess_Point”. It is also possible to do this from a computer, as long as it can connect to the “autoBalance_Acess_Point” WiFi network.
- Select your WiFi network and enter the password of your WiFi network in a case-sensitive way. On modern routers you may see two similar networks, one normal or 2.4G and one 5G. It is very important to select the normal or 2.4G. Autobalance is not compatible with the 5G network.
- Press OK and close the browser.
- Wait few minutes and open the App, confirm that the mobile device is connected to the same WiFi network you have configured for autoBalance.
- The App will find the autoBalance and connect to it. If it does not connect go to the “solutions” section.
Problems and solutions
Once the WiFi has been configured, the autoBalance will try to connect to the WiFI network, at that moment the network “autoBalance_Acess_Point” will disappear. If it succeeds the router will allocate an IP to the autoBalance, there are apps like Fing (Fing for Android; Fing for iOS) that scan the local network and allow us to check if it has connected and if it has an allocated IP (search for AutoBalance or Espressif). If the App does not detect the autoBalance it may be interesting to scan the network to check.
If for whatever reason it does not connect to the WiFi network, the “autoBalance_Access_Point” network will reappear. If so, repeat the process from the beginning. In any case check the following:
- Make sure you type the password correctly and that you enter the password corresponding to your WiFi network, remember that it is case sensitive and has no spaces.
- If you are doing the connectionwith iOS, make sure you type the network name correctly (with the normal method, with the browser method you don’t need to). Remember that it is case sensitive and has no spaces. You can check in your device WiFi networks (iPhone or iPad settings) how exactly it is spelled.
- Make sure you have selected a normal or 2.4G WiFi network and not a 5G one. 5G or 5Ghz networks are sometimes distinguished by being called the same as the normal one and adding _5G, but other times they may add other suffixes such as _super_fast, _high_speed, _plus, _fast, _5Ghz, etc.
- Confirm that the router is turned on.
- If is necessary, place the autoBalance near the router.
- If you have entered the wrong password or name, every 4/5 minutes it will try to reconnect, try to repeat the process just when the “autoBalance_Access_Point” network appears, this way you will have more time.
- If you have tried and confirmed all of the above try the following:
- Turn off the router for a few minutes, then turn it on. Wait a few minutes until the network is restored and the mobile is connected to the WiFi network and try to connect with the App to the autoBalance. If you do not connect, try the second step.
- Turn off the autoBalance for a few minutes, then turn it on. Wait a minute and try to connect with the App to the autoBalance. If you do not connect, try the third step.
- Turn off the cell phone and turn it on. Try to connect with the App to the autoBalance. If you do not connect, try the fourth step.
- Tap the reset button on the router for a few seconds, wait a few minutes until the network is restored and the mobile is connected to the WiFi network and try to connect with the App.
- If after all the attempts nothing works read the article “Connection problems or unstable connection“.
