Calibration solutions

The wrong use of the calibration solutions may cause out of range values, or wrong values

Ion sensors are very sensitive and must be calibrated for each analysis. This process is done automatically by the aBex, but is important to take care of how to use the calibration solutions. The light solution must be mixed correctly, and that they must be connected to the proper inlet.

The 2 calibration solutions are obtained from the product: “aBex calibration solution” and osmotic water.

Calibration solution 1 or light

The light calibration solution must be connected to the tube “Calibration solution 1 – in”.

Mix one part of “aBex calibration solution” with an equal part of osmotic water (100% light solution = 50% “aBex calibration solution” + 50% osmotic water). It is very important to use fully demineralized osmotic water, which does not contain any of the ions to be analyzed.

It is important for good accuracy that it consists of 50% of each.

Calibration solution 2 or heavy calibration solution

The heavy calibration solution must be connected to the tube “Calibration solution 2 – in”.

The heavy solution is 100% of the “aBex calibration solution”, so we should use it directly. No mixing is required.

Be sure to store the calibration liquids in a dark place. You must avoid vacuum in the aBex tubes, allowing air to pass between the calibration solutions container and the outside, but this holes must be small, so that it does not favor evaporation. In other words, it is not advisable to remove the cap, the ideal is to make a hole in the cap large enough to allow the tube pass trough and some air to balance the pressures.
